Impossible

An interesting exchange of words took place between the Lord Jesus and a character know as the rich young ruler, as recorded in the gospel accounts. The young man mistakenly believed in salvation by good works, and Jesus absolutely tears down that false premise in a very powerful way. How then are sinners saved? Well, with men this is impossible. What Next?!

After such a climactic end to the gospel accounts, you might wonder “what could possibly be next?” In other words, to the early disciples, how could life be anything but mundane after such a phenomenal experience? But that was hardly the case! Invigorated by Jesus’ defeat of death itself, the disciples spent their lives obeying Jesus’ commission to go and make disciples. Continue reading “What Next?!”

Face Set Like A Flint

Practical Applications from the Law

The New Testament is emphatic that the Old Covenant law stands forever fulfilled in Christ Jesus. He kept it to a jot and a tittle in our stead. But just because the law is fulfilled doesn’t mean we can’t learn from it. First, there are often underlying practical reasons for many of the laws (touching a corpse, handling of waste, etc.). Moreover, we can find shadows of Christ and His work as we think more deeply about the principles of each law.

In today’s Words of Grace, we consider three random examples of this from the book of Leviticus.
