Thoughts on the New Birth

In this week’s episode of Words of Grace, Pastor Winslett draws our attention to a fundamental but crucial subject in the word of God, the new birth. Also called quickening, regeneration, and translation, among other terms, this is the doctrine of salvation from death in sin to life in Christ. In today’s broadcast, we consider these various terms as well as the effects of the new birth in a person’s life.

We Believe in Regeneration

In today’s episode of Words of Grace, we continue our series on the Articles of Faith with an examination of our beliefs regarding the subject of the new birth; also called regeneration, quickening, translation, a spiritual resurrection, and an act of creation as well. If you’re a long time listener, you know how much we enjoy speaking on this topic. Why? You and I are walking miracles! We were dead in sin, but now are raised to life in Christ. We are born again. We are acts of Divine Creation as new creatures in Christ. It’s an awesome and amazing subject that personally applies to each and every person who is born again.

Born from Above

One of the most clear and instructive passages concerning the new birth is found in a conversation between the Lord Jesus Christ and a man named Nicodemus in John chapter 3. In this teaching of Christ, we learn that without the new birth, also called quickening or regeneration, a person is unable to see the Kingdom of God. Also, it is revealed and that God is sovereign in this vital phase of salvation. Join us for this study in our continuing series on Sovereign Grace statements from John’s gospel.

Two Types of People

In this broadcast, Ben Winslett presents a stunning but biblical fact: There are but two types of people living in the world today, those regenerated and those yet unregenerate. Join us as we explore the cause of regeneration, the nature of both types of people, and the important implications from such in reality.

If Risen…then Seek!

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

Risen with Christ. What a thought! Certainly our minds go to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ and our victory over death through His triumph. Yet at the same time, as God quickens sinners, they are vitally risen with Christ. Over the next two programs, we’ll consider Paul’s admonition to the church at Colosse to seek those things which are above, being risen with Christ.

Examples of Regeneration

Whatever one believes about any Bible doctrine, the stories of the Bible ought to corroborate their views – if those views are correct. In other words, Bible theology should be demonstrated in Bible accounts. In this broadcast, we consider some obvious and notable examples of the new birth. As we do, ask yourself the question: Does my teaching on regeneration line up with these examples?
