We Trust in God, Part 2

How can God’s people continue trusting Him when life brings suffering, loss, uncertainty, and hardship? In this concluding message our recent sermon series, Ben Winslett turns to several of Scripture’s greatest examples of faith and confidence in God during times of affliction.

From the remarkable testimony of Job, to the many Psalms that declare God’s faithfulness, the Bible repeatedly teaches believers to place their confidence in the Lord rather than in circumstances. The message concludes with the inspiring account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who refused to bow before Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image and trusted God even in the face of a fiery furnace.

Whether God delivers His people through their trials or ultimately delivers them from this present world into glory, He remains worthy of their trust. This sermon encourages believers to rest in God’s providence, cling to His promises, and remember that He is present with His children in every trial they face.

Trusting in Providence, Part 2: Elijah’s Story

In Part 2 of this study on God’s providence, Ben Winslett turns from the doctrine itself to several powerful biblical examples of God’s faithful provision. Scripture is filled with accounts of the Lord overruling circumstances, directing events, and caring for His people according to His perfect wisdom. We conclude with a brief consideration of God’s care of the prophet Elijah: from feeding him with ravens to food supplies that never become exhausted.

As we consider Elijah’s experience, we are encouraged to trust the same God who continues to care for His people today. The Lord who provided daily bread in the days of Elijah remains faithful to sustain His children in every generation.

From Preservation to Glorification, Sovereign Grace Episode 7

Today on Words of Grace, we present the concluding message in our series on Sovereign Grace, focusing on the certainty of final salvation for God’s chosen people. Throughout this series, we’ve explored foundational concepts like total depravity, God’s sovereign choice, Christ’s atoning work, and the Holy Spirit’s role in the new birth. Today, we emphasize the assurance that those predestined, called, and justified by God will ultimately be glorified, as highlighted in Romans 8 and also in John’s gospel.

Additionally, we draw from passages in 1 Corinthians, Philippians, and 1 Thessalonians to underscore the fact that our final salvation is guaranteed by God’s faithfulness. Despite our flaws, God will confirm and preserve us until the end. Ephesians 1 and Romans 8 further affirm our predestination to be adopted and conformed to Christ’s image, ensuring that nothing can separate us from God’s love.
