Jesus’ Encounter with Legalism

In this weekend’s broadcast of Words of Grace, Pastor Benjamin Winslett turns to Luke 6 to consider Jesus’ encounter with the heavy hand of legalism. In these familiar passages, the Pharisees condemn Christ and His disciples for plucking grain on the Sabbath and later challenge Him for restoring a man’s withered hand on another Sabbath. Yet Jesus reveals the true intent of God’s law: not as a burden to break souls, but as a blessing to sustain life. Join Pastor Winslett as he explores the contrast between the crushing weight of man-made legalism and the gracious rest we find in the Lord of the Sabbath Himself. #sermon #preaching #christianradio #wordsOfGrace #primitivebaptist #FlintRiverPBC #Jesus #Legalism #Luke6 #Sabbath #Grace

Walking After Christ

In today’s episode of Words of Grace, based on 1 John 2:6, we explore what it truly means to abide in Christ and walk as He walked.

“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”

Drawing from passages in John, Galatians, Ephesians, and more, we discuss our connection to Christ in salvation, regeneration, and resurrection. We then consider the Parable of the True Vine in John 15, where we learn the practical lessons Jesus taught about abiding in Him, emphasizing the importance of close fellowship with Christ and the destruction that awaits when we wander from Him. Lastly, we take up John’s command to walk as Jesus walked, learning this by studying Jesus’ life—His prayer habits, devotion to Scripture, humility, graciousness, and willingness to suffer for God’s will. We are called to follow His example, especially in loving one another.
