Expanding on Acts of Mercy (Part 2) | Matthew 25

In this final message from Matthew 25, we continue our study of Jesus’ teaching concerning the acts of mercy shown by His people, as reported to them in the final Judgment. We consider how acts of mercy demonstrate that our faith is authentic, and how Scripture connects genuine faith with a willingness to help others and meet their needs.

Pastor Ben also considers the urgency of showing mercy, the importance of sacrifice and hospitality, and what it means to minister to Jesus Himself by ministering to His people. This is part two of “Expanding on Acts of Mercy.”

Expanding on Acts of Mercy (Part 1) | Matthew 25

In this episode of Words of Grace, we return to Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 25 concerning the acts of mercy shown by His people. We consider the expectation that God’s people show mercy to others, and how these acts are not a means of earning salvation, but evidence of the work of God’s grace in us.

Pastor Winslett also considers how our mercy toward others is rooted in the mercy God has shown to us. As we have opportunity, we are to do good unto all men, especially those who are of the household of faith. This is part one of “Expanding on Acts of Mercy.”

The Judgment, from Matthew’s Gospel (Part 2)

In this week’s episode of Words of Grace, we share the second part of our study from Matthew chapter 25, in which we consider Christ’s words to the sheep, gathered on His right hand in the final judgment at the end of time.

More specifically, we consider the evidences of God’s work in their lives; the changes brought about by the new birth, as seen in their acts of mercy and kindness. Also, we learn the remarkable fact that the sheep themselves did not even realize the significance of what they had done, which shows a stark contrast between them and the self-centered goats.

The Wild Gadarene, Part 1

The story of Legion, a wild Gadarene man possessed with many devils, is one of the most amazing displays of Jesus’ mercy and grace in all of scripture. In this and the next broadcast, Ben Winslett shares this account with us; one that is initially terrifying but eventually comforting and instructive.
