The Temptation, from Luke Chapter 4

In Luke chapter 4, we read of the Lord Jesus facing temptation in the wilderness. After forty days, He was hungry and attacked by Satan himself. Yet unlike us, Christ triumphed—refusing to abuse His power, refusing to tempt God, and refusing to bow to the wicked one.

In this episode of Words of Grace, Pastor Ben Winslett considers Luke’s record of the temptation, showing us both the absolute righteousness of our Savior and the subtle strategies of the enemy. Be encouraged: Jesus overcame where we would have failed. His victory is not only our example in resisting temptation, but also the very foundation of our salvation!

The Believer’s Role in Societal Chaos

In this edition of Words of Grace, Benjamin Winslett addresses the troubling events that weigh heavily on our hearts—political violence, mass shootings, wars, and the moral decline so evident in our world today. With Scripture as our guide, we ask the simple yet urgent question: What are we supposed to do?

Drawing from the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Winslett reminds us of our calling to be salt and light, to embrace the Beatitudes, to pray for even our enemies, and to live in such a way that reflects the peace of Christ in a chaotic world. From Matthew 24 and Romans 1 to the powerful exhortation of Romans 12—Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good—this message calls us back to our true purpose as disciples of Jesus.

From Ruin to Restoration | Present Evil World, Part 2

In this week’s Words of Grace broadcast, we share the second half of Pastor Winslett’s sermon entitled “Present Evil World.” Picking up in Galatians 1:4, Ben traces the Bible’s sweeping contrast between the world as God originally created it and the world as it now stands—fallen, broken, and filled with sorrow. But through Christ, who gave Himself for our sins according to the will of the Father, we are not only saved from sin and wrath, but from this present evil age itself.

This salvation, planned before the world began and accomplished by the triune God, points us to something far greater: a world to come, where righteousness dwells, death is no more, and God Himself is our comfort and light. Join us as we conclude this sobering yet hope-filled message of gospel assurance.

Radio broadcast for July 27, 2025.

God’s Chosen Servant | Isaiah 42

This week on Words of Grace, we turn to Isaiah 42 for a stirring look at God’s Chosen Servant — a prophecy that reveals the mission and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. Unlike the conquering political figure many first-century Jews anticipated, Christ came in gentleness, mercy, and unwavering purpose. He didn’t clamor for attention or crush the weak. Instead, He upheld the bruised reed and rekindled the smoking flax, ministering hope to the broken. Though quiet in demeanor, He accomplished what no other could: full and final redemption for His people.

Join Pastor Ben Winslett as he unpacks this passage in light of its New Testament fulfillment and points us to the victorious, compassionate Savior who will not fail nor be discouraged. Continue reading “God’s Chosen Servant | Isaiah 42”

Blessed Are The Meek

What does it mean to be meek? How does this characteristic reflect the life of Jesus Christ? And how do the meek inherit the earth, both in this life and in the world to come? Through biblical definitions, Old Testament connections, and powerful examples like Moses and Christ Himself, we uncover the beauty and strength found in godly meekness.
