The Blessing of Family

In this episode of Words of Grace, we share Pastor Winslett’s message on The Blessing of Family. From the very beginning, God established marriage as the oldest institution, teaching us through family relationships about His own love and care for His people. Drawing from Genesis, Ephesians, and the Psalms, this sermon reminds us that family is both a precious gift in this life and a glimpse of the greater, perfect family awaiting us in eternity with Christ.

Listen in as we reflect on the joys and struggles of family life, the deeper intent behind marriage, and the promise of our everlasting home with the Lord.

Worship: Types and Motivations | Compelled to Worship, Part 2

In last week’s Words of Grace, we began considering the question: what compels us to worship God? After defining worship from Scripture, we now turn to the ways it is expressed and the motivations behind it.

In this message, Pastor Ben Winslett looks at the types of worship—spontaneous praise, private devotion, and corporate gathering—and then asks what truly drives us to worship. From the finished work of Christ that makes worship acceptable, to the changed heart that longs for God, to life’s providences and the encouragement of others, we see how worship is both enabled and compelled by the grace of God.

Join us as we continue this study on what it means to worship in spirit and in truth. Continue reading “Worship: Types and Motivations | Compelled to Worship, Part 2”

Letting Your Moderation Be Known

On this weekend’s edition of Words of Grace, we share a message from the pulpit of River Primitive Baptist Church entitled Biblical Wisdom on Extremes. In this sermon, we explore how Scripture teaches us to avoid the natural human tendency toward extremes — whether in our thinking, our reactions, or our daily living.

As depicted in the the dramatic response of the barbarians in Acts 28 to Paul’s survival of a snake bite, humans can be creatures who pinball between extremes. Yet Paul exhorts in Philippians 4:5 to let our moderation be known to all men. The Bible provides clear and practical wisdom for living a balanced and thoughtful life.

Tune in as we continue this encouraging study and seek to apply these biblical principles in our walk of faith.
