Hurdles to Fruitfulness

On this episode of Words of Grace, Ben Winslett brings a message from Matthew 13 on the parable of the sower, focusing on a theme that speaks directly to every believer: “Hurdles to Fruitfulness.”

While this familiar parable is often understood as describing different kinds of hearers, the Lord Jesus applies it in a deeply personal way with the exhortation, “Take heed therefore how ye hear.” In this message, we consider how that warning applies to us as disciples, and why it is that the word of God sometimes fails to bear fruit in our lives as it should.

Letting Your Moderation Be Known

On this weekend’s edition of Words of Grace, we share a message from the pulpit of River Primitive Baptist Church entitled Biblical Wisdom on Extremes. In this sermon, we explore how Scripture teaches us to avoid the natural human tendency toward extremes — whether in our thinking, our reactions, or our daily living.

As depicted in the the dramatic response of the barbarians in Acts 28 to Paul’s survival of a snake bite, humans can be creatures who pinball between extremes. Yet Paul exhorts in Philippians 4:5 to let our moderation be known to all men. The Bible provides clear and practical wisdom for living a balanced and thoughtful life.

Tune in as we continue this encouraging study and seek to apply these biblical principles in our walk of faith.

In Christ, from 1 Corinthians

In this edition of Words of Grace, we continue our series on the “In Christ” statements of the New Testament, diving into 1 Corinthians to explore their rich theological significance. Ben Winslett unpacks both the eternal deliverance found in Christ and the practical lessons drawn from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, focusing on our sanctification, wisdom, righteousness, and redemption. Join us for this thoughtful study as we explore how believers are sanctified in Christ, called to be saints, and the hope of resurrection for those who die in Christ.
