The Suffering Servant Rises

In the conclusion of this special Easter-season message, Ben Winslett returns to Isaiah 53 to consider the very heart of the gospel. Why did Christ suffer? Why was the Servant wounded, bruised, and cut off out of the land of the living?

This message explores the substitutionary sufferings of Jesus Christ, the mystery of the cross, and the triumphant hope of the resurrection foretold in prophecy. Isaiah not only tells us that Christ would die for sinners, he also shows us that the Servant would prolong His days, see the travail of His soul, and be satisfied.

Why Are His Garments Red?

In Isaiah 63 the prophet asks a sobering question about the victorious figure introduced in the opening verse: “Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?” In this episode of Words of Grace, Benjamin Winslett continues this message by focusing on the work of the One who is mighty to save.

The imagery of the winepress presents a vivid picture of judgment, as well as the reality that Christ accomplished redemption by His own power. This passage declares that He trod the winepress alone, with none to help, securing salvation for His people while also bringing judgment upon His enemies.

Radio broadcast for March 22, 2026.
