The Suffering Servant Rises

In the conclusion of this special Easter-season message, Ben Winslett returns to Isaiah 53 to consider the very heart of the gospel. Why did Christ suffer? Why was the Servant wounded, bruised, and cut off out of the land of the living?

This message explores the substitutionary sufferings of Jesus Christ, the mystery of the cross, and the triumphant hope of the resurrection foretold in prophecy. Isaiah not only tells us that Christ would die for sinners, he also shows us that the Servant would prolong His days, see the travail of His soul, and be satisfied.

God’s Chosen Servant | Isaiah 42

This week on Words of Grace, we turn to Isaiah 42 for a stirring look at God’s Chosen Servant — a prophecy that reveals the mission and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. Unlike the conquering political figure many first-century Jews anticipated, Christ came in gentleness, mercy, and unwavering purpose. He didn’t clamor for attention or crush the weak. Instead, He upheld the bruised reed and rekindled the smoking flax, ministering hope to the broken.
