God’s Chosen Servant | Isaiah 42

This week on Words of Grace, we turn to Isaiah 42 for a stirring look at God’s Chosen Servant — a prophecy that reveals the mission and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. Unlike the conquering political figure many first-century Jews anticipated, Christ came in gentleness, mercy, and unwavering purpose. He didn’t clamor for attention or crush the weak. Instead, He upheld the bruised reed and rekindled the smoking flax, ministering hope to the broken. Though quiet in demeanor, He accomplished what no other could: full and final redemption for His people.

Join Pastor Ben Winslett as he unpacks this passage in light of its New Testament fulfillment and points us to the victorious, compassionate Savior who will not fail nor be discouraged. Continue reading “God’s Chosen Servant | Isaiah 42”

Resting in Hope

In this week’s edition of Words of Grace, we share a recent message by Ben Winslett from the 16th Psalm.

Psalm 16, a Messianic Psalm, reminds us that because Christ was raised from the dead, our flesh can rest in hope. Trust and hope—two crucial words—offer us peace in the face of loss. Trusting in God means placing our loved ones in His hands, knowing that death is inevitable but not final. Hope, in the biblical sense, is not mere wishful thinking but a confident expectation rooted in God’s promises.

Romans 8:29-30 beautifully outlines the unbreakable chain of our salvation: foreknown, predestined, called, justified, and glorified. From eternity past to eternity future, God preserves His people. As Psalm 23 so powerfully declares, even as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil, for the Lord is with us.

Because Christ has conquered death, we can rest in hope and trust in the preservation of our souls.

Radio broadcast for March 2, 2025.

A Blessing To Those Who Mourn

In this broken world, mourning is a reality for all people. Addressing that, Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

In this week’s episode of Words of Grace, we continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount by exploring Jesus’ statement: Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. What kind of mourning does Jesus mean? Who shall be comforted? How does the gospel bring comfort to those who grieve? Join us as we examine how God’s promises bring peace to the sorrowful, both in this life and in eternity.
