Judging the Tree by its Fruit

In this week’s episode of Words of Grace, Benjamin Winslett shares a message titled “Judging the Tree by its Fruit.” Drawing from Jesus’ words in Matthew 7, “by their fruits ye shall know them,” Ben reminds us that while we aren’t called to be judgmental people, we are called to exercise discernment. Just as good judgment keeps us from stepping into danger on the highway, spiritual discernment helps us recognize truth from error—especially when it comes to false teachers.

Through passages from Matthew, John, Proverbs, James, and 1 Peter, Ben explores the biblical principle that our works reveal who we are. Even a child is known by his doings, and our actions as believers should reflect the faith we profess. Ultimately, this message challenges us to live in a way that bears witness of Christ and leaves a good name before others.

Listen as we teach on the wisdom of discernment, the importance of our testimony, and the danger of false preachers—reminding us that “when someone shows you who they are, you are wise to believe them.”

What Are You Building?

In this follow-up to last week’s message, we return to the wisdom of Proverbs to examine the patterns and traits that can either strengthen or undermine the foundation of our lives. Pastor Ben Winslett challenges us to consider: What are we building? Are we framing our lives with the solid materials of God’s Word, or are we slipping into dangerous behaviors that weaken our spiritual house?

Drawing from the contrast between the fruit of the Spirit and the lusts of the flesh, this broadcast highlights how scripture equips us for every good work, steering us away from pitfalls and guiding us in paths of righteousness. From our friendships and speech to our work ethic and trust in God, today’s message offers both warnings and encouragements for everyday living.
