The Suffering Servant Rises

In the conclusion of this special Easter-season message, Ben Winslett returns to Isaiah 53 to consider the very heart of the gospel. Why did Christ suffer? Why was the Servant wounded, bruised, and cut off out of the land of the living?

This message explores the substitutionary sufferings of Jesus Christ, the mystery of the cross, and the triumphant hope of the resurrection foretold in prophecy. Isaiah not only tells us that Christ would die for sinners, he also shows us that the Servant would prolong His days, see the travail of His soul, and be satisfied.

To Whom Is The Arm Of The Lord Revealed?

In this special Easter-season broadcast, Ben Winslett begins a two-part message from Isaiah 53 and Acts 8, focusing on the Ethiopian eunuch’s timeless question: “Of whom speaketh the prophet this?” Who is Isaiah describing in this remarkable prophecy?

In this first part, we consider how Christ is revealed in the Old Testament as the Arm of the Lord—God’s saving power made known in the promised Messiah. This message explores the opening verses of Isaiah 53, the unbelief of man, and the glory of Christ foretold centuries before His coming.

This episode is the first half of last year’s Easter message and sets the stage for next week’s conclusion on the sufferings, atonement, and resurrection victory of Jesus Christ!

Mighty To Save

In Isaiah 63 the prophet asks a striking question. “Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah… this that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength?” The answer comes with authority: “I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” In this episode of Words of Grace, Benjamin Winslett begins a study of this powerful passage and introduces the identity of the conquering figure Isaiah saw.

This message focuses on the opening verse of the passage and the declaration that the Messiah is mighty to save. While Isaiah 53 shows Christ as the suffering servant who bore the sins of his people, Isaiah 63 reveals him as the victorious Redeemer who comes in strength to deliver his people and judge their enemies.

Little Bethlehem

In this episode of Words of Grace, Benjamin Winslett continues and concludes his December study of Old Testament prophecies concerning the incarnation of Jesus Christ, turning the focus to Micah 5:2 and the significance of little Bethlehem. Though small and overlooked, Bethlehem was chosen by God as the birthplace of One whose goings forth have been from everlasting.

This message explores the biblical and historical background of Bethlehem Ephrath, its connections to Rachel and King David, and the precise fulfillment of Micah’s prophecy in Luke chapter 2 through the Roman census and the birth of Christ. The episode concludes with one of the final Old Testament predictions of the incarnation from Zechariah 2:10–13, where the Lord declares that He will come and dwell among His people—Jew and Gentile alike.

Who Exactly is Shiloh?

In this Christmas-season episode of Words of Grace, we consider one of the earliest and most beautiful promises of Christ found in the Old Testament. From Jacob’s prophetic words in Genesis 49, we’re introduced to the mysterious name Shiloh—the One to whom the gathering of the people would be, long understood as a promise of the coming Messiah.

We then follow that promise into the book of Isaiah, where the child to be born is revealed as Emmanuel, God with us—the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, and the Prince of Peace. The episode concludes in Psalm 8, reflecting on the wonder of the incarnation: that the eternal Son of God humbled Himself, becoming a little lower than the angels, taking on our humanity to redeem His people.

As you listen, may your heart be drawn not only to the warmth of the Christmas season, but to the ancient promises that find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ our Lord.
